Samuel Clay Birmaher's "Converted Melodies" were composed in 2022 as pieces for solo recorder. None of the tracks on this album are proper performances of the original pieces. With permission from the composer, I performed the melodies on synthesizers, taking many liberties with tempi and pauses, but keeping the original structures and pitches intact. The timbres I chose are sometimes close to the sound of a recorder, but more often are very different.

Performers who use acoustic instruments may be interested to use this project to create their own versions of the melodies by transcribing the electronic versions for their instrument(s). The alternative would be to simply play the original melodies from the solo recorder score, using the proper transpositions if necessary.
